The State of Acre Law n.2308 from 22nd October 2010 creates the State System for Incentives to Environmental Services (SISA), the Program for Incentives to Environmental Services - ISA Carbon, and other environmental services and ecosystem products of Acre's State. The objective of the law is to foster the maintenance and enhancement of environmental services and product's offering, including carbon. The main objective of the ISA Program - Carbon is to promote the progressive, consistent and long term reduction of GHG emissions, in order to achieve the state's voluntary target of reduction of emissions from deforestation and forest degradation. Among other activities, it aims to promote the "institutionalization" of a REDD+ State system, that can fit into national and international recognized concepts and which can guarantee an adequate MRV of these reductions, also providing for a state registry of credits, in order to allow the State to negotiate the generated carbon credits.
