Guyana’s REDD+ Governance Development Plan

Guyana's REDD+ Governance Development Plan outlines the current and planned activities relating to REDD+ and the LCDS. The Working Draft was issued in June 2011. The key activities included are:
- Review and Revision of the National Forest Plan and the National Forest Policy Statement
- Creating a new revenue structure for the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC)
- Developing new Codes of Practice for Processing, Harvesting and NTFPs
- Strengthening law enforcement and institutional capacity in the GFC and the REDD Secretariat
- Strengthening capacity for monitoring and sustainable forest management in both GFC and communitry forest associations
- Stregthening capacity in other agencies relevant for REDD+
- Continue harmonization of policies, legislation of land use and other relevant agencies- Development of a System for Reporting on Multiple benefits of REDD+
- Developing a multi-year plan for titling and demarcation of Amerindian lands and establishment of the Amerindian Development Fund
- Establishment of criteria for identifying priority areas for Biodiversity within Guyana's Forest
- Development of a Mechanism for distribution of REDD+ funds as set out in LCDS
- Publicise all relevant information on REDD+ and LCDS efforts including information on funding
