The Japan International Cooperation Agency is an independent governmental organisation that coordinates Official Development Assistance (ODA) to developing countries around the world for the Government of Japan. The aim of JICA is "to contribute to the promotion of international cooperation as well as the sound development of Japanese and global economy by supporting the socioeconomic development, recovery or economic stability of developing regions". It has about 100 offices located worldwide to promote projects that meet local needs.
