The ENAREDD+ is currently under development. This Strategy is expected to be developed between 2011 and 2012. Key elements are expected to include 1) building and/or strengthening institutional capacities, 2) improving targeting and effectiveness of existing programs (e.g., the Community Forestry Project (Programa de Desarrollo Forestal Comunitario, PROCYMAF)), exploring the experience of the Mexican Forest Fund and expanding the Payment for Environmental Services model, 3) promoting Sustainable Forest Management (SFM), 4) improving monitoring capabilities for LU/LUC based on National Forest Inventories, including MRV in local communities, and 5) integrating new financing mechanisms (e.g., carbon finance) with positive impacts on biodiversity conservation and livelihoods of forest landowners and communities. The ENAREDD+ will be developed at a national level with a nesting scheme for subnational and local activities.
