Consejo Civil Mexicano para la Silvicultura Sostenible
CCMSS
Last updated: 17 November, 2011

Non-profit organization responsible for promoting the conservation of forest ecosystems through communitarian management, creating proposals to improve forestry policy and fostering economic mechanisms that stimulate conservation and responsible forest management. Furthermore, it oversees research in order to understand the tendencies and problems the forestry sector and communities face. The CCMSS contributes in local and national efforts to reduce natural resources deterioration in rural regions by consolidating communitarian institutions and strengthening forest owner’s capacities (which allows sustainable management of their resources, contributing directly to the wellbeing of local communities). Currently, the CCMSS is developing five REDD+ pilot projects in the following states: Estado de México, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo and Campeche. These pilot projects are financed by the Ford Foundation. At the same time the organization presides the REDD+ Task Force REDD (CTC-REDD).
