ECOSUR is a research and higher education center focused on sustainable development in Mexico’s southern border. The institution’s programs promote scientific knowledge, human resource formation and the design of technologies and strategies to contribute to sustainable development. The main research areas include: biodiversity conservation, society, culture and health and alternative production systems. ECOSUR has five campuses located in Campeche (Campeche), Chetumal (Quintana Roo), Tapachula (Chiapas), Villahermosa (Tabasco) and San Cristobal de las Casas (Chiapas). ECOSUR collaborated in the development of the R-PP. Currently, the institution is actively participating in the development of the National REDD+ Strategy at the national and subnational level.
