SENPLADES is the administration and coordinating entity of the National Decentralized System for Participatory Planning that promotes the country’s integrated development at the national and sector-wide levels.  It is the role of this State institution to establish strategic policies and objectives directed towards public investment and the promotion of democracy, based on information, research, training, and including follow-up and evaluation processes.  SENPLADES incorporates active citizen participation in its planning processes to contribute to transparency and efficiency in public administration and lead toward increased well-being.  Furthermore, the discussion of issues important for a change in the development model is encouraged, such as: Higher Education, Science and Technology, Social Security, Democratic Reform of the National Government; Territorial Reorganization and the National Planning System.  The National Development Plan for 2007-2010 is the product of the administration of SENPLADES that is preparing the National Strategy for Development to 2022 that will guide the country over the medium- and long-term.
