The CDI is a decentralized Federal agency established for the mandatory consultation on indigenous affairs, the evaluation of government programs and actions, and the training of federal, state and municipal employees to improve the quality of life of indigenous communities. The commission will play a key role in the consultation process for the development of the National REDD+ Strategy (ENAREDD+) by ensuring that projects and policies that affect indigenous communities be designed and implemented within a fair framework and ensure the protection of their rights. The commission has its own Technical Advisory Committee that analyses, comments, and proposes policies, programs and actives to the Committee in order to promote the development of indigenous people. This platform will be considered as a consultation body for REDD+.
