REDD+ After Cancun: Moving from negotiation to implementation

May 18–20, 2011, Hanoi, Vietnam

The workshop will build on previous regional workshops held in November 2009 and March 2010, as well as the outcomes of the REDD Development Dividend Task Force Meeting held in January 2011.

The Cancun Agreements include a framework for moving forward with nationally driven REDD+ implementation, although challenges remain. The workshop will aim to provide participants with a deeper understanding of policy and technical issues related to REDD+, including:

  • Addressing and respecting safeguards;

  • Encouraging co-benefits;

  • Measurement, reporting and verification (MRV);

  • Priorities and interests of the various UN-REDD and FCPF countries, areas of common and complementary concern, and lessons learned from early action;

  • Strategies for enhancing coordination across issue areas.

The two-and-a-half day workshop will offer a series of expert presentations and in-depth discussions on salient issues in the REDD+ process.
