CBD Workshop for Indigenous and Local Communities of the African Region

This regional workshop aims to increase the number of indigenous and local community (ILC) representatives, with an emphasis on women, effectively involved in the CBD processes, as well as to build their capacity to do so. This sub-regional workshop will focus on Articles 8(j) (traditional knowledge), 10(c)(customary sustainable use), and related provisions, as well as the Nagoya Protocol on access and benefit-sharing, and aims at preparing ILC representatives for the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties, which will be held in Hyderabad, India, from 8-19 October 2012.
