IUCN (The International Union for Conservation of Nature) invites you to a panel discussion on the contributions that multi-stakeholder participation makes to the building of REDD-plus strategies in tropical forest nations. Multi-stakeholder platforms facilitate equitable participation and efficient interventions. Better communication and understanding between different actors can help avoid or diminish potential conflict. The discussion will explore how stakeholder engagement can contribute to credible and implementable REDD-plus strategies.. Experiences of forest governance and REDD readiness strategies are highlighted, as are partnerships between government, civil society and the private sector that contribute to the development of options for benefit-sharing, the clarification of carbon rights, and systems for Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV).
