Session Objective:

 Identify trends, facilitate the sharing of experience and distill lessons learnt on stakeholder engagement and benefit-sharing.

Session Description:

This session sheds light on how to promote opportunities for stakeholders, by sharing lessons from benefit-sharing examples and avoiding adverse social impacts by engaging stakeholders in the design of REDD programs.

This session will stimulate discussion on:

  • 1.  Stakeholder processes that provides access to information, decision-making and monitoring tools to communities;
  • 2.  Key factors that contribute to effective benefit-sharing  planning;
  • 3.  What we can learn from implementation experiences of existing policies and interventions on benefit-sharing arrangements; and
  • 4.  What additional issues need to be considered for robust stakeholder engagement processes and solid benefit-sharing models.

Session Format:

Presentations by speakers on stakeholder involvement and designing benefit-sharing mechanisms.

30 minutes in break-out groups to answer questions on 3 key topics.

30 minutes to report back to plenary from 3 break-out groups.
