Workshop on Information Exchange - Accra, Ghana, August 2008
Overview
The Forum held its first workshop from 19-21 August, 2008 in Accra, Ghana in conjunction with the UNFCCC climate talks. The workshop was hosted by the Ministry of Lands, Forestry and Mines and the Forestry Commission of the Republic of Ghana, and was facilitated by Meridian Institute. The Accra Forum workshop accomplished several goals, namely:
| * | The exchange of basic information on REDD and an exploration of the issues concerning readiness |
| * | The inclusion of a representative group of individuals from developing country governments, indigenous and forest communities, civil society, and NGOs and private sector stakeholders in discussions |
| * | Proactive outreach to stakeholders about current and planned REDD readiness activities and actors by region |
| * | The identification of regional priorities related to REDD readiness through a multi-stakeholder process |
