Stakeholder Outreach - Cambodia, Viet Nam, Lao PDR, October 2009
The Forum on Readiness for REDD convened several events over the 2008-2009 time period in which a limited number of participants from South East Asia were able to participate. In each case, requests were made of the Forum to conduct similar work (multi-stakeholder workshops or training) in Southeast Asia. To accommodate these requests, the Forum on Readiness for REDD convened three multi-stakeholder REDD readiness consultation meetings in Cambodia, Vietnam and Lao PDR. In conjunction with Meridian Institute, the Secretariat worked closely with the REDD focal points in each country to identify and convene a representative range of REDD stakeholders to initiate a conversation that would function as a learning opportunity, information exchange and open dialogue. Specific meeting objectives were to:
- Learn about REDD activities in each country
- Introduce the FORUM on Readiness for REDD
- Explore learning opportunities and possible areas and ways to collaborate on readiness needs.
The meetings were focused on discussing and defining concrete and implementable activities that the Forum could convene, participate in, or otherwise support for the region post Copenhagen. Over 60 participants attended representing government, NGO, civil society and private sector stakeholders.
This project was funded the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.
