Introduction to the special issue on forests and gender

This article provides a backdrop to the International Forestry Review’s special issue on forests and gender. Drawn from a wide variety of contexts in Africa, Asia and Latin America, papers in this special issue explore the gender dimensions of various topics. They highlight advances made and challenges faced by women in forest resource management and sharing benefits.
