Environmental Protection Agency (Ghana)
The Environmental Protection Agency is the leading public body for the protection of the environment in Ghana. Its objectives include to mainstream the environment into the development process at the national, regional, district and community levels, ensuring that the implementation of environmental policy and planning are integrated and consistent with the country’s desire for effective, long-term maintenance of environmental quality, ensuring environmentally sound and efficient use of both renewable and nonrenewable resources in the process of national development and guiding development to prevent, reduce, and as far as possible, eliminate pollution and actions that lower the quality of life. The Environmental Protection Agency was actively involved in the formulation of the R-PP annexes and is one of the members of the National REDD Plus steering Committee.
